Creating a Global Community for Collaborative Education
Mission and Vision Statement
Our mission is to create a global community for education that connects everyone involved in education and our vision is that all the people of the world have the opportunity to share in the richness of learning.
Through the collective energy of the online, connected community everyone can contribute and share in the richness of learning and improve educational opportunity for all.
This is the beginning of a journey. Join us on the journey. It is a global journey where no one must be left out. This is the beginning of an organic, collaborative online movement.
We believe that by providing an online platform where people around the world, whoever they are, connect and collaborate through the desire to enhance learning at every level we can work towards a goal where every child has access to education.
The Linkedto-ed community can support the drive to raise standards and improve the learning experience for all.
For all partners in the education process from students to education ministers and beyond to have a say in the Linkedto-ed Community agenda.
Benefit all who have a stake in education. Join the Linkedto-ed online community to discuss today’s education issues, share ideas and solutions, knowledge, skills, tools, content and resources.
To influence the education agenda globally. As we grow, the strength in numbers harnessed to the reach of social media, will have the ability to influence the education agenda globally.
There are thousands of governmental and non-governmental organisations, institutions, committees, groups and individuals with an online presence working towards improving education and learning. There are websites for teachers, academics, policymakers, NGO’s, students, parents and countless more. However they tend to look for solutions within their own domain, specialism or silo.
We have recently witnessed the awesome power of social media to influence global agendas. The Linkedto-ed Community intends to harness this power and reach as a vehicle for benefitting education globally.
World Bank: ‘Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. '
UNICEF - United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund.
States that today around the world:
- 61 million children of primary school age (typically aged 6-11) are not in school
- 60 million adolescents of lower secondary school age (typically aged 12-15) are not in school
- 53 per cent of children out of school are girls
- 1 in 4 of out-of-school children live in crises-affected countries
- Of the primary-school-aged children not in school, 20 per cent dropped out before finishing primary school, 41 per cent will probably never attend and a further 39 per cent are expected to enter school as over-age students.
On current trends, the world will not achieve universal primary education for many decades to come, much less secondary schooling for all by 2030 as set out by the Sustainable Development Goal 4. As economic crises and depletion of international education funds further stretch the resources the world is willing to devote to education, the number of children out of school will continue to stagnate and the quality of schools will decline.’
We believe that an online community with enough reach and collective purpose can help UNICEF achieve its Goal 4.
